Charles’ most noted accomplishment was during his NYCPS leadership role when he coordinated a team, consisting of NYCPS and PSSNY leadership along with their respective lobbyists. Their combined effort accomplished the impossible by successfully having two laws in successive years passed by the legislature and signed into law by NYS Governor Andrew Cuomo. The new laws allow patients in NYS to have a choice in having a community pharmacy fill their prescription rather than mandated to use mail order. NYCPS and PSSNY accomplishments under Charles’ leadership forged the advancement of Pharmacy within the state of NY and their successes have been followed and emulated by other states in similar situations facing the pharmacy profession. Charles was the recipient of the St. Johns University Preceptor of the Year Award in 1998 and the Bowl of Hygeia Award in 2005.
